In a new venture, Lexington Square Lombard and Elmhurst senior living communities are sharing meaningful family recipes with a philanthropic ingredient. The vibrant retirement communities are hosting Come Hungry, a marketing initiative that will broadcast trendy cooking demos throughout the coming year. “Foodie programming is very popular right now, so we decided late last year to offer televised demonstrations to our residents,” said Dan Harrington, vice president of senior living. “That was so well received that we’ll be introducing virtual seasonal cooking demos to prospects this year.”
Recognizing that they are excited about their fine dining offerings when many people in the area face financial hardships, coordinators decided to support our neighbors. “With our focus on food, we decided to collect favorite family recipes to share on social media and, at some point, to perhaps prepare. We are promoting this effort while committing a $10 donation for each submission to the Northern Illinois Food Bank. It’s an organization that does great work in feeding our neighbors and all of us here are happy to help this important cause.” said Harrington.
Recipes can be submitted to MyRecipes@LexingtonSquare.com. Each will be published on Lexington Square’s Facebook page and eligible to win $100 in a monthly drawing. Lexington Square will donate $10/recipe to Northern Illinois Food Bank, up to $5,000.
